A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned I was thinking about participating in this year’s July Camp NaNoWriMo to encourage me toward greater productivity in my writing. At that time, I was trying to work out if I could do the camp in edit mode. Turns out, that mental debate was moot.
For better or worse, work has become more demanding than I had anticipated. That is, of course, not necessarily a bad thing on the whole. It does, however, preclude me from rolling up my sleeves for Camp NaNoWriMo. Oh, I could’ve still made a go of it. However, I like to have a sporting chance at succeeding when I begin a challenge. This month just wasn’t lining up to be a good time.
So … I’m disappointed that July will not be filled with long writing sessions pouring my heart and soul into a story. Nor will the month find me comparing notes with fellow campers which was loads of fun and incredibly encouraging during last year’s camp. On the other hand, it’s good to have work. Yes, indeed! And I don’t have to NaNoWriMo rebel. I can simply keep editing my WIP as time permits.
Are you doing Camp NaNoWriMo this year? What are you working on? Are you finishing a WIP or starting a brand new story?
